Award Schemes and their Reputations.
The 2022 Brit Awards may not have garnered the hype it usually does pre-show, but it was nothing short of phenomenal and memorable. Award schemes these days aren’t as trustworthy anymore. So it’s increasingly becoming difficult for anyone to take award houses seriously.
But this year it was calm at the Brit Awards, except for the very suspicious Best New Artist given to Little Simz.
Simz isn’t a new artist, and although, amazingly, she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves, it’s almost like the Best Striker award that was given to Robert Lewandowski after he was denied his rightful gong in the footballing world for 2020.
People should be celebrated for their efforts. It seemed a bit iffy, but she has a Brit award now, that is what matters.
The performances were absolutely out of this world. Breathtaking and detailed with awesomeness down to the t. Adele dazzled fans with the record, I Drink Wine off her newest album, 30. Dave came through with a fiery performance of his song In the Fire, featuring guest appearances from Giggs, Ghetts, Meekz & Fredo.
Ed Sheeran combined Beyond the Horizon to produce a stellar pop and metal combination with amazing choreography.
The Brit Awards is a platform for artists to explore and emphasize the current events in the UK. This year, they decided to give the audience a show. And without a doubt, they did.
Adele won album of the year, song of the year, and artist of the year to steal the show. Ed Sheeran took home songwriter of the year, whilst Dave picked up the Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap act award. Little Simz won best new artist.
International artist of the year went to Billie Eilish. Silk Sonic duo Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak won the international duo of the year.
It’s quite outstanding when you think about the projects that came out of the UK last year and how impactful they were on the music world. It’s beautiful to see the efforts of the artists rewarded in a wholesome fashion.
A few artists have been silent in the UK scene. So we can only hope that this year produces another round of brilliance that we can see achieve greatness, come the Brit Awards 2023.
